About
Guns, dangerous ruins, strange enemies, and a plunger that's surprisingly useful for getting around.
Survivor Joe Lost Island is a free 2D action platformer with roguelike adventures, guns, swords, and plenty of things trying to kill you. Explore dangerous environments, collect weapons and equipment, level up, and unlock perks along the way.
Play as Comrade Joe, Pirate Joe, or Hunter Joe, each with different starting equipment, strengths, and unique perks. Whether you prefer firearms, close combat, or bows and traps, there's a Joe for the job.
A good shot helps, but knowing when to jump, retreat, or grab another weapon can make all the difference.
Temple Crawler
Explore the island in Temple Crawler, a roguelike adventure you can play alone, with a Steam friend, or with another player through online matchmaking.
Fight through forests, Tiki strongholds, ancient temples, and lava caves. Each run takes you through branching levels with different encounters, hidden loot, optional areas, and four bosses, each with their own attacks and combat stages.
Find weapons with random modifiers, collect Jold to spend at the Jobster's shops, and take on optional jobs for the Jodfather. Some jobs are straightforward, while others might involve stealing something you probably shouldn't.
Level up your Joe, improve your attributes, and spend XP on perks. There are 50 perks across shared and character-specific paths, covering everything from weapon handling and survival to movement, traps, and explosives.
Eventually, you'll reach the Jem and face a choice. What happens next depends on what you decide.
Deathmatch
Sometimes you just want to shoot another Joe.
Deathmatch lets you fight against AI-controlled bots or compete online in matches with up to 8 players.
Choose from 15 designed arenas or randomized maps based on the island's different environments. Weapons are scattered around the battlefield, and everyone has the same stats. Grab what you can, hunt down your opponents, and try to finish with the most kills.
Pick your favorite Joe and get shooting. Your skin won't save you.
Endurance
Endurance is an endless mode where you fight your way through increasingly difficult encounters across the island's four environments.
Enemies get tougher as you progress, with stronger equipment, dangerous champions, and increasingly difficult combinations of enemies. You'll need to keep moving, find supplies, and make good use of the Jobster's travelling shop.
Your score depends on how aggressively you play. Fighting and advancing build momentum, increasing your score multiplier up to 2×. Spend too much time standing around or retreating, and that multiplier starts dropping.
Compete on the Steam leaderboards, compare scores with other players, and see how far you can get before something finally kills you.
Weapons, Equipment, and Perks
There's quite a bit of equipment scattered around the island, although not all of it is particularly good.
Use pistols, revolvers, assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles, bazookas, swords, axes, spears, bows, and more. Grenades, Molotovs, mines, and deployable traps are also available if shooting isn't enough.
Weapons come with random modifiers that can make them better or worse than their ordinary counterparts. You might find a rifle with ricocheting bullets, a shotgun firing slugs, or a bow that fires splintering arrows. You might also find something so terrible that leaving it on the ground is the better choice.
Inventory space is limited, so you'll have to decide what to carry. Medicine, ammunition, spare weapons, and whatever else you pick up all compete for space.
Each Joe has their own attribute growth and perk paths. You can focus on firearms, melee combat, traps, movement, or a combination of them, depending on your character and what you find during a run.
Boot Camp
Not sure what you're doing? The Jodfather has prepared a training course.
Boot Camp teaches you how to move, wall-jump, use your plunger, shoot, throw grenades, set traps, collect loot, and heal yourself.
You'll also earn some practice XP to unlock your first perk.
The Jodfather will guide you through the whole thing. Try not to disappoint him.
Steam Achievements
Earn Steam achievements by defeating bosses, completing challenges, exploring the island, and making progress through the different game modes.
Endurance also features Steam leaderboards for players who want to compete for the highest scores.
Conquest (Paid DLC)
Conquest is a separate paid DLC that introduces a sandbox campaign inspired by games like Mount & Blade, but with the side-scrolling combat of Survivor Joe Lost Island.
Explore a procedurally generated island occupied by five factions, each with its own territory, troops, and independent warlords. Recruit soldiers, build armies, trade with villages, form alliances, or start wars with whoever happens to annoy you.
Capture settlements, build improvements, manage supplies, and lead your soldiers into battle. You control Comrade Joe directly during fights, using the same weapons and movement mechanics as the base game while your army fights alongside you.
The campaign includes different storylines and multiple endings. You can try to escape the island, establish a homeland for the stranded Joes, conquer the whole place, or pursue some of its other mysteries.
Want to try Conquest before buying it?
The Jodfather's Prologue is included in the free base game. It introduces the campaign's mechanics through a playable mission covering recruitment, trading, caravan interception, and settlement assaults.
You can play the entire Prologue without owning the DLC.
Free to Play
Survivor Joe Lost Island is free to play. Temple Crawler, Deathmatch, Endurance, Boot Camp, and the Conquest Prologue are all included.
The full Conquest sandbox campaign is available separately as paid DLC.
